Established in 2008, World of Dance has become the epicenter of the global dance community. From its humble beginnings in Los Angeles to a televised sensation on NBC, this electrifying brand has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, showcasing the finest dance talent from across the globe—where creativity knows no boundaries.

Founded in 2008, World of Dance initially aimed to unite the diverse, independent corners of the dance community on a single stage through a groundbreaking showcase. Its inaugural event, the World of Dance Tour, took place at Pomona Fairplex, drawing nearly 4,000 dancers to exhibit their talents and support their peers.

Events and media have always gone hand-in-hand, and the rise of YouTube played a pivotal role in propelling the company’s success. World of Dance’s YouTube channel now boasts 6 million subscribers, averaging over 1,000 views per upload. A standout moment is the Royal Family’s 2015 WOD LA performance, which holds the channel’s record with over 250 million views (and counting), catapulting both the team and the brand onto the global stage. Following the success in the US, with different tour spots all over major cities in the country, World of Dance went international with their first spot in Vancouver, Canada.

The next year, World of Dance launched in Europe with their first show in the Netherlands.

The growth continued for in 2014, World of Dance started their Asia tour with a competition in the Philippines.

Los Angeles was a dance hotspot, where creatives from all around the world wanted to be and compete on the World of Dance Stage. Originally planned at the LA Finals, the sheer volume of submission created a two-day event, where the next day was the World Finals. The success of the first World Finals led to an annual event separate from the LA competition, where dancers from different countries would compete each year to become the World of Dance champion.

In 2017, World of Dance created a 10-episode dance competition that was televised on NBC. The show featured celebrity judges alongside 50 of the world's best dancers and dance teams, all coming together to compete for a 1 million dollar prize! The show focused on giving a bigger platform for dancers and showcasing their star talent. World of Dance NBC debuted with close to 10 million viewers in the first episode, and went one for another three seasons. Some of the show's winners include, the Les Twins (season 1), The Lab (season 2), The Kings (season 3) and MDC 3 (season 4). Check out The Lab's performance on season 2 below!

As of 2023, World of Dance has created a week-long summit program filled with masterclasses, summit games, and the world finals. The 7 day program was created to give dancers an opportunity to showcase their creative expression through various different dance mediums. Dancers now can perfect their fundamental skills and learn from some of the dance community's greatest performers. Each year World of Dance Summit grows larger and more diverse, and we can't wait to see you there this year!

When looking into the future, World of Dance looks to find new ways to give dancers a bigger platform and allow the community to show their talents and passion for dance on a bigger stage.
